Cosmic Tape Music Club Podcast hosted by The Galaxy Electric - E2 Sun Ra

video by The Galaxy Electric

New podcast from supporting members, The Galaxy Electric. Gear talk at 9:40, and 01:04:14 on Sun Ra's visit to the Moog factory back in the day. Sun Ra famously had the Minimoog Model B prototype. See this post for an interview with Sun Ra from 1971.

"Thanks for joining us for Episode 2 of the Cosmic Tape Music Club monthly Podcast! Join your hosts Jacqueline and Augustus of the experimental pop band The Galaxy Electric as they get cosmic on the topic of Sun Ra and his Arkestra band. In short he was a being that claimed he was from the planet Saturn. He was an avid reader and enthusiast of music instrument technology, as well as a virtuosic band leader, composer and pianist/keyboardist. We share all sorts of facts starting with his early life, his alien abduction, the various locations he lived and conducted the band from, his journey through being an early adopter of many different keyboards and synthesizers like the Moog Minimoog and Yamaha DX-7 (to name a few), his mystic ethos, and much much more!

Chick Corea, In Memoriam

video by CatSynth TV

Legendary composer and keyboardist Chick Corea has passed away. Above is a tribute from supporting member, CatSynth.

"We pay tribute to the great jazz composer and keyboardist Chick Corea, who passed away on February 9, 2021. We look at his seminal work with Miles Davis in the late 1960s into his launching Return to Forever in the 1970s. We also touch on his Elektric and Acoustic bands, his duets with Herbie Hancock, his explorations of orchestral and chamber music, and his reunions in the 2000s.

His pioneering work included embracing the electric piano and then synthesizers in his jazz performances (something he shared with his contemporary Herbie Hancock), but returned to acoustic jazz and explored other aspects of music over the years. He leaves behind a multi-decade legacy.

We extend our thoughts to his family, friends, and many collaborators on his passing."

And a few synth related videos featuring Chick Corea (if you have any other favorites, feel free to link to them in the comments):

Korg Gadget jam 24 "Point 'n' Click"

Published on Jun 16, 2017 Hank Astral

"All sounds from Korg gadget and some of my favourite point n click games

https://discchord.com/

HOW I ARRANGE: After I've created a loop that I like I just launch/mute tracks and tweak parameters rather than consciously lay everything out. This way the whole process stays fun which for me is the key. I may do a more detailed tutorial on this.

With all the gear options out there I also like sticking with one program and Korg gadget is perfect for what I want to do. If you don't know what it is here is my own overview:

Korg gadget is a complete IPAD electronic music workstation - like a propellerhead's Reason for mobile.
To make music you just pick any of the following 'gadgets' from within the program and start composing:
Drum machines/Drum Samplers
London: drum sound module Gadget designed specifically for dance music but with the right FX can fit any style really. Has 8 Tracks.

Madrid: Real sounding acoustic and electric bass

Salzburg: Multi-sampled grand piano

Brussels & Miami: monophonic modern sounding bass/lead synths Can pump and bass wobble

Chiangmai: Bell type sounds

Helsinki: Absynth like ambient polyphonic synth

Montreal, Alexandria & Firenze: Real sounding electric piano and organs
